We are Jeroen and Aagje van den Heuvel
Almost four years ago, we left behind the ordinary to chase something wilder: a life of freedom, adventure, and deep connection with the world around us. With curiosity as our compass and the sea as our guide, we set sail to see where the horizon would take us.
What began as a family journey together with Rajesh (Karki) van den Heuvel quickly turned into an epic voyage across oceans and cultures. We sailed through the Caribbean, danced with the trade winds in the Bahamas, dropped anchor in the turquoise bays of Isla Providencia, explored the lush jungles of Panama, and crossed one of the world’s greatest engineering marvels, the Panama Canal.
In April 2024, we made the great leap across the Pacific Ocean, arriving in the breathtaking waters of French Polynesia, where we spent nearly a year living the rhythm of life at sea.
Today, our paths temporarily run in different directions. Rajesh has returned to India, where he is travelling through the country working as a photographer and cameraman for a journalist, building his own adventures and stories.
Meanwhile, we have returned to the Netherlands for a while to work, reconnect with family and friends, and prepare our boat for the next chapter of the journey.
If everything goes according to plan, our boat will be sailing the waters of Fiji again in April 2026. From there, the horizon is open. We don’t know exactly where the wind will take us next, and that is exactly how we like it.
One thing we do know: in October, we will fly to India to visit Rajesh and follow a little piece of his journey as well.

Aagje is a sailor, author, and artist behind the sailing blog SV My Motu. Alongside life at sea she writes inspirational and children’s books, including “Dot en haar zeevriendjes” and “Jouw dromen, jouw toekomst. Maak het waar”. Her work combines storytelling, ocean life, personal growth, and creativity. The inspirational book is available in English, Dutch, and Hindi, making its message accessible to readers worldwide. Besides writing, Aagje also creates ocean-inspired dot art paintings, reflecting the beauty and freedom of life on the water.
