Sailing Stories & Sea Treasures

“Four years ago we untied the lines. We thought we were sailing around the world. Instead, the world changed us.”.

More than a sailing journey

On July 1, 2022, we untied the lines and left our familiar life behind. Since then, SV My Motu has carried us across oceans, through storms and calm seas, and to places we once only dreamed of visiting.

📝 A new adventure every two weeks

What began as a dream of sailing around the world has grown into a journey filled with unforgettable encounters, breathtaking anchorages, unexpected challenges, and lessons that only life at sea can teach.

For the first three and a half years, this journey was a family adventure shared with our son Rajesh. Today, Jeroen and Aagje continue exploring the world aboard SV My Motu, while Rajesh pursues his own dreams in India. No matter where life takes us, we will always remain the Three Musketeers at heart.

Through our blogs, photographs, and stories, we invite you to step aboard and experience the beauty, freedom, and reality of life beyond the horizon. Welcome aboard SV My Motu. We are happy to have you with us on this adventure.

The three musketeers

We are:

Jeroen van den Heuvel

Captain

Adventurer, problem solver, and water sports enthusiast. Jeroen has always been happiest on or near the water. A passionate windsurfer for most of his life, he recently discovered wingfoiling and embraced it with the same enthusiasm that he brings to everything he does. Known for his positive outlook, infectious sense of humour, and ability to make friends wherever he goes, Jeroen is often the first to lend a helping hand and the last to complain when things do not go according to plan. Whether repairing systems on board, navigating a challenging passage, learning a new sport, or exploring a remote island, he approaches every challenge with determination, curiosity, and an unwavering belief that there is always a solution. Fearless, adventurous, and forever young at heart, Jeroen still experiences the world with the excitement of a child in a playground. For him, every new anchorage, every wave, and every horizon is another opportunity for adventure.

Aagje van den Heuvel

First Mate

Writer, artist, sailor, and dental hygienist. After many years of working in the Netherlands, she chose to exchange life ashore for a life of adventure aboard SV My Motu. Today, she documents the journey through blogs, books, photography, and art, sharing both the beauty and the realities of life at sea. When the opportunity arises, she still returns to the Netherlands to work as a freelance dental hygienist, helping practices during periods of illness, maternity leave, or extended staff absences. She believes that dreams do not have an expiration date and that it is possible to combine a passion for travel with a profession you love.

Rajesh van den Heuvel

Former crew

For the first three and a half years of our journey, Rajesh was an essential part of the crew. Today, he is pursuing his own dreams in India, but he remains an important part of the My Motu story and will always be one of our Three Musketeers.

Books & Creative Work

Aagje is a sailor, author, and artist behind the sailing blog SV My Motu. Alongside life at sea she writes inspirational and children’s books, including “Dot en haar zeevriendjes” and “Jouw dromen, jouw toekomst. Maak het waar”. Her work combines storytelling, ocean life, personal growth, and creativity. The inspirational book is available in English, Dutch, and Hindi, making its message accessible to readers worldwide. Besides writing, Aagje also creates ocean-inspired dot art paintings, reflecting the beauty and freedom of life on the water.

Discover my art- The World of Dots

When I’m not sailing across the Pacific, I dive into another kind of ocean, one of colour, rhythm, and emotion.

Over at The World of Dots, I share my love for dot painting, an art form inspired by nature’s perfect geometry and the soulful stories behind every journey. Each piece is created with care, patience, and a touch of wanderlust.

From vibrant abstracts to peaceful mandalas, my paintings are more than decoration; they are moments captured in colour.

Looking for something truly personal? I also create custom-made pieces on request. Let’s bring your vision to life, dot by dot.

Visit https://theworldofdots.com to explore my art collection, or get in touch for a commission.

Let art take you places, just like sailing does.
